<copy>Some people never apologise for anything; others apologise for everything....in the news of late we have seen several very public apologies.

Tiger Woods - Kevin Rudd (Australia apologising for the treatment of Aborigines during the Stolen Generation years); Gordon Brown for the children that were shipped out to NZ and Aus during the war years

Apologising is good for the soul if you are in the wrong; it is also healing for the person you are apologising to - but only if it is genuine.

We hear prisoners apologising to their victims. Are they really sorry or just sorry they got caught?

Did Kevin Rudd and Gordon Brown need to apologise when they were nothing to do with what happened (I believe it was fabulous that they did - sad that it took so long tthough)?

Toyota's eventual mea culpa over their stuck accelerator. I think the time it took them to apologise will do more harm than the actual problems with the accelerator.

My thoughts on apologising:
<copy>A town in northern Australia has experienced a downpour (much needed because of serious drought conditions) but sadly it wasn't rain it was FISH!!! Yet the town is hundreds of kilometres from coast or lakes!!

Twice in a week small LIVE fish literally fell from the sky. A miracle? Possibly - though there was no bread with the downpour..explanation - Thoughts are that a tornado in the nearby douglas Daly region must have picked up water (and fish) and dumped them on the little township.
A terrible combination
So we read that NZ youngsters are 60% more likely to die in crashes as a result of drinking than our Aussie counterparts......what a waste.
Finally our government is upping the driving age to 16 and making a zero alocohol tolerance on teenage drivers - about time!!
<copy>Years ago I was in Singapore for a speaking gig and I took a bus tour around the place. I was fascinated when the tour guide started telling us 'this area is where people with only one child live. They get to send their children to the best schools.' We then drove on a little way to an area that wasn't quite so nice - her comment 'this is the area where people live who have two children - their children go to not so good schools' and finally we were driven through what could only be described as a poor area and she said'this is where families live who have more than two children - the government gives them no help with educating their children.'

I was shocked to say the least. We are talking 20 yeas ago -but Singapore is a tiny country with very limited space. And of course China instigated that policy for many years - not sure if they still do?

But I've just read an article where NZ is coming under increasing pressure to grow and produce more food! The statistics are:
<copy>Just read that the Royal Bank of Scotland is preparing to post losses of 5.1b sterling for 2009 AND IS STILL GOING TO PAY OUT BONUSES OF 1.5b!!

Didn't they get a massive bailout?

It beggars belief. It defies all business logic - it is immoral - it must be bordering on criminal.

Who are these people that make these ludicrous decisions? Are they so far up themselves that they don't care about public opinion......if I were a client of the Royal Bank of Scotland I would close my account IMMEDIATELY!!

They give out the usual 'we have to pay to keep our staff' - DO YOU? If you didn't where would they go? That is such a pile of @#$%$%% - stop paying out these bonuses and see what happens. And if you lose a few of the greedy ones, then good riddance to them.

Does anyone else get as angry as I do when they read this BS.
